Does Betaine HCl Work

When I first heard about Betaine HCl, I was a bit skeptical, but as I started pouring into some of the clinical studies, I knew it was exactly what I needed. One of the most common side effects of acid-reducing medications, bacterial overgrowth, nutrient deficiency is going to be indigestion. The food’s gonna sit on your stomach way longer than it should, leading to a lot of excess gas and bloating.

Betaine HCl Benefits

1 Improves Motility

So one of the primary and most obvious benefits of Betaine hydrochloride is to reacidify your stomach, help burn some of that food off, and as you imagine, take a lot of pressure off your lower esophageal sphincter. Now one of your body’s natural signals to close the lower esophageal sphincter, which is the valve that sits between your stomach and your esophagus, is actually acidity. But also acidity is a signal to open the pyloric sphincter that sits between your stomach and your small intestine to allow the food to efficiently move out. And when you do that, you’re definitely going to improve your digestion.

2 Increases Vitamin Absorption

Now Betaine HCL can help to improve your gut lining in a couple of ways. For one, the beneficial bacteria that exist in your gut oftentimes can feed off the carbon found in the mucosal layer, but typically when your body is absorbing vitamins and nutrients at the appropriate level, it’s able to replace that at a level faster than it’s being consumed. And so reacidifying can help with that absorption.

3 Kills Pathogenic Bacteria

Also, the pathogenic bacteria that can come into your body by way of your food, or that can overgrow as a result of your dietary choices or things like antibiotics, typically would be burned off by higher acidity. And so get that acidity level back up and you can start to kill some of those bad boys off.

4 Helps with Hormone Production

But vitamin absorption is also critical for hormone production, not only to adjust and modulate your mood, but also to control your entire digestive process.

5 Restores Stomach Acidity

Betaine HCl can begin to help you off some of the secondary issues, the cons, the low stomach acid. These are things like allergies, autoimmune diseases, celiac’s, Hashimoto’s, and these can start to come from bacteria and food particles entering in the fissures in your stomach and getting into the bloodstream.
